The
World Citi Colleges (WCC) Basketball Team is a
Filipino Juniors
basketball team formed in the summer of 2004. Since then, they have won two championships in four championship appearances in three different leagues.
The first batch of Vikings
The team was led by 5'11"
guard Jonathan "Panoy" Panunciar and was handled by Rizaldy "Coy" Reyes. Things started a bit shaky for the team in CUSA (Colleges and Universities Sports Association), getting eliminated in the first round and finishing with a 2-4 record.
However, they would show their true form in the
NMMAA (Northern Metro
Manila Athletic Association). After dropping their first game against
Immaculate Mary College in a controversial game, they demolished everything on their way, including blowout games against
SPCC,
St. James and
Notre Dame of Greater Manila (the defending champions). They won the tournament by beating Notre Dame of Greater Manila in the championship by 9 points (74-65) giving WCC their first championship ever.
Second batch
Still being coached by Coy Reyes, The World Citi Colleges Vikings ended with a third place finish in CUSA, with a record of 7-5, losing to eventual champions
PCCr in the semis. In the MNCAA, they finished a disappointing second place after losing against the UAAP Champions
De La Salle University Junior Archers in the Championship game.
