The World Junior Pairs Championship was initiated in 1995 in Ghent, Belgium, and has since incorporated the European Junior Pairs Championship. It is open to players who celebrate at most their 25th birthday during the calendar year (under-26 or "U26").<!--Or is that up to 26?-->

Exceptionally for the first World Mind Sports Games, 2008 in Beijing, the age limit was 28.

The Junior Pairs is biennial in even years and part of the Games in Olympic years.
