Yellow Rat Bastard is the flagship establishment in a chain of New York City retail clothing stores owned by Henry Ishay. Like most of the chain, it is located on Broadway. It specializes in "hip-hop-and alternative-style clothing and shoes." In 2008, the store, the related chain and owner Ishay were cited for labor law violations by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and entered into a million-dollar settlement paying back wages to more than a thousand employees.

YELLOW RAT BASTARD (YRB), the word YRB was originally developed by Mark Ecko, a former store manager and the space designer of the NYC store. The idea for the store came from a Frank Miller comic book called "Sin City"; it had an issue entitled "That Yellow Bastard".

The store has become a New York tourist attraction and counter-culture, skater, thrasher shopping mecca. Clothing has transitioned from goth-punk to skater to a hip hop urban retail environment. One of the last large independent retailers in what is becoming an upscale environment on Broadway in SoHo, the store recently released its lease on the flagship location to UK retailer TopShop.

Yellow Rat Bastard has relocated its SoHo store across the street, into the space of their affiliate store, Dirty Jane/Sloppy Joe.
