Yerevan United Football Club or YUFC () is an
Armenian football club based in
Yerevan. Currently, the club does not participate in any of domestic leagues, however Yerevan United FC is returning to Armenian Football, soon.
History
The JourneyThe idea of Yerevan United Football Club was conceived in 2001 by the Founder and current club president, Dikran Hovivian, from Sydney, Australia.
During a three-week trip to Armenia in early 2004, Dikran Hovivian saw an opening in the football industry in Armenia.
Although part of Europe, Armenia at the time was not alongside other European football clubs in basic fan appreciation, such as food and entertainment at games including cheerleaders, team Mascot and merchandise. There was no special attention towards fans, non-existence of an up to date informative websites by current clubs in Armenia, alternatively lack of connection with the Armenian football fans in the Diaspora. Dikran also witnessed a great lack in the number of fans attending games.
The dreamFootball in Armenia was not being treated as a business to its full potential. Being a master in marketing and a business strategist entrepreneur, Dikran Hovivian returned to Australia with a DREAM; a dream to create a football club in Armenia, which would revolutionize the entire football industry in Armenia.
