The
Young Scientists of Australia is a national non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of
science in Australia to the 14- to 25-year-old demographic. The organization consists of chapters in
Adelaide,
Brisbane,
Melbourne,
Perth and
Sydney, as well as regional coordinators in other parts of Australia such as
Canberra.
The organisation is involved in organising various science shows, typically targeted at high school students. It also organises social events for its members, and is involved in various science promotion events such as
National Science Week and the production of a radio show about science, airing on
SYN Radio in Melbourne. YSA also staffs a large number of The Science Experience science schools in various universities around the country, where by hundreds of YSA members volunteer weeks of their time to lead high school students around the universities.
