Lew Wallace High School is a four year (9-12) public high school of the Gary Community School Corporation in Gary, Indiana, United States.


The faculty includes nearly 65 teachers.


In 1926 the 45th Avenue School of Gary, Indiana was officially named Lew Wallace High School named after General Lew Wallace of the Union Army in the Civil War. General Wallace was also the governor of the New Mexico Territory, and is the author of Ben Hur. The current "A and B wings" of Lew Wallace were constructed in 1933. The most recent addition includes the Richard Polk Gymnasium, which was opened in 1972.

The school nickname is "Hornets." The school address is 415 W. 45th Ave., Gary, Indiana 46408.

School Uniforms

All GCSC students from pre-Kindergarten through the 12 grade are required to wear school uniforms. "" Gary Community School Corporation. Starting the 2007-2008 Academic School year, all schools will follow the new "school uniform" policy.
