The history associated with the New Orleans style Brass Band Music is varied and interesting.

To start with the Brass Band was an invention from the military found in The european countries. Within these units, the military had designated people which devoted their time spreading both ethical messages and orders through the different songs they performed. Given that they didn't possess the radio capability that present day armies have got, this was the best way to pass on common orders throughout the huge armies. Obviously, the boys that invested their hours in service playing the Brass Band instruments brought the instruments home and would perform Brass Band events for their friends and family groups.

Throughout the nineteenth century, the Brass Band traditions journeyed to The united states. The United states armed service created alternatives to the English Brass Band. Next, like their Uk military before them, the tradition spread outside of the confines of the army and into the streets of America, inevitably to travel down the mighty Mississippi and end up in New Orleans.

Just after Brass Band concerts arrived in New Orleans, they started to take on a life of their very own. Initially, it was mostly friends and family members of dearly departed that would play the Brass Band instruments at the funerals of their relations that had passed on. Then the lively African inspired rhythms of Congo Square in New Orleans began to infiltrate and affect the music of the Brass Band. The bands started to be hired for both the funerals and for different celebrations in which music was appropriate, but something which was taking place would forever change the face of Brass Band music.

The Brass Bands, then composed of only a few members, would start with playing the ethnically influenced music, however, when the bands were recruited to play bigger celebrations, they were expected to complement each other. The band members wouldn't all be aware of the rhythms of the other band member's ethnic backgrounds, and would combine what they knew with what they heard. Therefore, the New Orleans Brass Band developed a typical theme which was exclusive to New Orleans. buy tickets for classical events

By the mid 1900's, the Brass Band vogue had delved so deeply into New Orleans jazz music it had become regarded as the traditional sound of jazz music.
