Santosh Gangwar(born 1 November 1948) is a former minister of state in Government of India and a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He had been the Member of Parliament from the city of Bareilly for 20 years(1989–2009). He was also the chief whip of the party in 14th Lok Sabha.He faced defeat in the 15th Lok Sabha Elections, 2009 by a very narrow margin.

Shri Gangwar is associated with social work and active politics for over three decades.


He had been a former minister of state in Government of India, holding the portfolio of Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas with additional charge of Parliament Affairs in 13th Lok Sabha. Prior to this, Shri Gangwar was Minister of State of Science & Technology with additional charge of Parliamentary Affairs from Oct. 1999 to Nov. 1999.Shri Gangwar was elected for the first time to the 9th Lok Sabha in 1989 from Bareilly Parliamentary Constituency and since then he has continuously represented this constituency as a BJP Member of Parliament for six successive terms till 2009.

Shri Gangwar was jailed during the Emergency for guiding a people's movement against the tyrannical and oppressive administration of the then Government. Shri Gangwar has served as a Member of the U.P. State BJP working Committee.
